Aims: Bristol City Council's Translating and Interpreting Service exist to make services to Black and Other Minority Ethnic People whose first language is not English, more accessible. We have a register of over 100 local translators and interpreters. Our sessional translators and interpreters are fully assessed and trained before they do any work for our customers. They receive ongoing training and their work is continuously assessed to guarantee a high quality service. In addition, all translators and interpreters adhere to codes of practice and code of ethics which underpin their professional and confidential approach. Training is also arranged for Council staff and other agencies on working through interpreters and broader communication issues.
