Type of organisation: Charity/Community
Type of delivery point: Club; Under 5's
Aims: The aims of Baby Song are to:
Introduce children to singing and music
Encourage and enhance bonding between parents and their children through voice and touch
Give parents and children the opportunity to meet and mix with other families
Provide a warm, safe and supportive atmosphere for the above to take place
Build bridges into the local community and share with families as appropriate
The pattern of the sessions is as follows:
Parents, with their children, sit round in a circle on cushions
Each child is greeted by name in our "Hello" song
We have a theme for the afternoon (eg: holidays, Christmas, the weather, animals, etc)
There is a mixture of action songs, marching songs, dancing songs, nursery rhymes, etc.
Each session has a quiet time when we listen to recorded music, usually classical (The effect is amazing!)
Break-time when the children sit round the tables for refreshments and the parents can have a cup of tea and chat together
Another song or two, finishing with our "Good-bye" song.
There is a welcoming and happy atmosphere
