Child protection is about the safeguarding of children who are being abused or are in danger of being abused. We have a multi-agency responsibility involving Children's Services, Health, Police and voluntary groups, and works with children, parents, carers, schools and others to ensure that children are safe and protected. Children at risk of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, or neglect, may be placed on a confidential register following a Child Protection case conference. Equally a formal decision is required to remove the name of a child from the CP Register.
If you have any concerns about possible abuse it must be reported to Avon and Somerset Constabulary Child Protection Team – Thornbury 0117 945 5982.

Parents: Child-Safe guidelines are designed to help you feel more secure and keep your children safe from harm. Like road safety, you can make these simple rules part of your family's life.
Groups: Attending training will enable clubs to take steps to reduce the opportunities for abuse and malpractice to take place. People attending seminars receive a Child-Safe pack, it gives all the information required to develop an effective child protection scheme. Organisers, leaders and parents can feel reassured that child protection will be taken seriously with in clubs. All seminars and packs are free of charge.
