More About The Organisation
DELTA is a parenting programme which aims to 'promote the holistic development of young children, by increasing parents' knowledge and skills, raising their self-esteem and enhancing the parent/carer child relationship'.
DELTA's mission is 'to promote partnership with parents and carers on a multi-disciplinary basis through group and individual programmes by imparting parenting information and advice'.
The DELTA logo, the triangular shape of the Greek letter D symbolises the partnership between parent/child/promoter, the letters stand for Developing Everyone's Learning & Thinking Abilities
There are a number of strategic objectives, as follows:
To ensure widespread access to DELTA Parenting Programmes with a specific focus on children and families in need, taking into account disability, cultural and ethnic needs.
To deliver DELTA in communities, both urban and rural, to ensure social inclusion in a non stigmatising manner.
To network and collaborate with other Parenting Programmes and Family Support Services.
To raise awareness amongst all relevant agencies and the general public of the importance of developing parenting skills through programmes such as DELTA.
To agree targets and ensure an equitable spread.
To ensure the programme is both planned and delivered using a holistic educare approach.
To use research and evaluation findings to inform and improve service quality.
Parents and carers are provided with:
Booklets, advice and packs which are suitable to their children’s stage of development.
Workshops on developing learning and thinking through communication, sharing books, play, healthy lifestyles and positive parenting.
