More About The Organisation
The Parent and Child Empowerment Programme offers support and encouragement to new parents or parents with young children. It is based on six or more monthly home visits and is aimed at empowering parents rather than guiding or instructing them. Para-professionals in the health, social or educational services are trained to offer and provide effective visits. They enable parents to find their own answers to their problems; this gives them greater confidence. Our organisation provides training for the para-professionals and works with Children’s Centres, health, social, educational and local authorities to develop each area’s parent support programme.
A letter or email helps to indicate whether our service would be of use to an authority. All correspondence is answered promptly and in the required detail.
If referral then by whom? For example, Social Worker, School, Doctor, Self-referral?
Staff or representatives of Children's Centres, Primary Care Trusts, Local and Education authorities and Social Services are welcome to request information on strategies and costs. We will visit on request. Our website ecdc.org.uk provides more information on the programme.
Do you have a waiting list?
Are there any costs to the user for your service?
Costs depend on the size of the programme requested by an authority and will be determined during negotiations. Unfortunately we ourselves cannot provide the programme for individual families as that support can only be provided by an authority's own staff whom we have trained for this purpose.
