More About The Organisation
ASWCS is the cancer network for Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire counties. Its aim is to improve the quality of cancer services provided throughout the region. ACWCS works in collaboration with the health authorities, NHS Trusts, Primary care organisations, Hospices, Voluntary organisations and service users. Its aim is to improve the cancer services by implementing the national recommendations for cancer services, developing medical staff education and training, conducting and developing research into clinical trials and user involvement, and facilitating user involvement throughout the network.
They have a User Involvement Group which includes service users (patients and carers), voluntary organisations which work with users of cancer services, and health professionals. The group meets every 2 months to discuss issues relevant to user involvement at a strategic level. New members or queries are welcome. For more information, please contact Michail Sanidas on 0117 900 2321 or 07974 376914.
ASWCS is also providing support to the Black and other Minority Ethnic Forum. The Forum provides a safe environment in which users and community representatives are encouraged and enabled to influence the way ASWCS improves the quality delivery and accessibility of cancer services. For more information please contact Michael.
ASWCS is also involved in The Cancer Forum, the forum is managed in the voluntary sector and meets 4 times a year to share information about cancer issues. Members include voluntary organisations, NHS agencies, and service users and all new members are welcome. Please contact Sarah Slater at The Bristol Cancer Help Centre on 0117 986 9520.
