About Us

The APE Project is a not for profit organisation which runs innovative and creative workshops for children and young people, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. We are passionate about the importance of play and its ability to transform both individuals and communities. APE is an acronym for Art, Play and Environment and these are the three key principles that drive our work. We aim to promote creativity, healthy lifestyles, environmental awareness and to highlight the value and profile of play. Set up in June 2007 with funding from the Scarman Trust and Shambala Festival, the project initially ran as a mobile arts tricycle within Bristol. Since then the project has grown to deliver a broad range of activities, workshops and training. APE Project staff are CRB checked, First Aid trained and qualified play workers/practising artists with years of experience between them. APE Project activities are ideal for children and young people of all ages and we can work in schools, colleges, clubs, open access play settings, festivals, community events and private bookings.
