More About The Organisation
The British Red Cross is a leading member of the largest independent humanitarian organisation in the world – the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Providing relief to people in crisis – both in the UK and overseas – is at the heart of our work.
We respond immediately to conflicts and disasters around the world, providing essentials such as food, clean water, shelter and medicines. A global network of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers means that we are often first on the scene.
Across the UK, our 35,000 volunteers are committed to helping vulnerable people in their own communities. We respond to emergencies such as rail crashes, fires and floods and train over 150,000 first aiders every year. We also provide short-term care to those affected by a personal crisis.
The Red Cross helps people without discrimination, regardless of their ethnic origin, nationality or religion. We believe in respecting human life and dignity, and responding to suffering with compassion and practical assistance.
