The Psychology Service is a professional support service provided by the local authority. Our aim is to promote the development of children and young people, both socially and academically, in educational settings. We work with individual and groups of children and young people, teachers and other adults in schools and early years settings, with parents and families and with professionals from other agencies.

How do people access your service?
Most referrals come from schools and settings following a period of consultation with their educational psychologist.
If referral then by whom? For example, Social Worker, School, Doctor, Self-referral?
School staff such as Headteacher, Deputy headteacher, Special Needs Coordinator, person in charge of early years setting. Other professionals include health professionals such as paediatricians, speech therapists, physiotherapists, members of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health team and social care staff. Other children's services professionals within the Department for Children and Young People also refer to the Service.
Do you have a waiting list?
We operate a consultation service which provide advice and support without the need to make a referral in the initial stages.
