More About The Organisation
We provide seven day residential experiences of living and working on an organic farm for urban primary school children (key stage 2) and their teachers.
Children from urban primary schools come to our farns all year round in parties of 36-40 with four or five accompanying teachers. They are put into three groups and the farm jobs are rotated so that each group does each job at least twice during the week. The second time rounf everyone feels like a farmer!
Jobs include: feeding livestock, mucking out, grooming horses and donkeys, assisting at milking time and tending the kitchen gardens. Many activities are seasonal and range from apple pressing and bonfires in the Autumn to lambing in the Spring.
Children learn where their food comes from and to appreciate the quality of simple, wholesome meals, with ingredients grown at the farms or locally sourced whereever possible.
